![]() ![]() A voile curtain separated us from other guests, and we were welcomed by a tableful of restorative goodies – mint tea, Laurent-Perrier champagne, and heaps of enormous strawberries, whipped cream and shards of dark chocolate. ![]() ![]() Feeling completely renewed, we were led in our post-treatment stupor into the relaxation room, where beds are dotted around a bubbling water feature. Along with the deep pampering, expert hands of the facialist… all the stars were aligned for a snooze, which – romantic or not – led to some gentle snoring from both beds as our faces were worked on and turned from dry and grey to fresh and glowing. As soon as we were both settled into our separate beds, we were draped in heated towels – a simple way to really ramp up the feeling of decadence. It’s worth noting that the spa music was some of the best I’ve heard. Mine was the Diamond Energy facial with glycopeel using Natura Bisse products, his the Signature which offered lifting, firming and draining with hot stones. You can also, as I did, tailor the package entirely and opt for a facial instead – my husband and I left with smooth faces and a matching shine after our treatments. It’s totally customisable – and as with all the best treatments, there’s a short consultation at the start to work out what your body really needs. The couples treatment for Valentine’s Day is a special package in which you can choose between either the 60 or 90 minute signature ‘Advanced Bodywork’ massages. The cocooning dark and copper walls lead you to the spa below, a bright and spacious waiting room with the odd Greco-Roman bust or giant terracotta pot dotted around the curved corridors.
